Information requirements for substances in nanoform

Review five years after entry into force

The nano-specific information requirements in the REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 have now been in force for more than five years. For this reason, the Federal higher authorities were asked by the BMUKN as part of their technical supervision to take stock. The focus was to be on practical experiences with the new requirements: what went well and what could be improved? In summary, it can be said that the newly introduced nano-specific information requirements were a good first step towards improving the data available on substances in nanoform, which forms the basis for risk assessment. However, experience has shown that further adjustments to the regulations for substances in nanoscale are necessary. The report also contains specific proposals in this regard.
