The German Environment Agency (UBA) and the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) are pleased to announce the workshop "PMT and vPvM substances under REACH - Voluntary measures and regulatory options to protect the sources of drinking water" to be held on the 13th - 14th of March 2018 at the Bundespresseamt, Berlin, Germany.

In alignment with REACH, UBA has proposed criteria and an assessment procedure to identify persistent, mobile, toxic and very persistent, very mobile substances that pose a hazard to the sources of drinking water. We invite the chemical industry, drinking water suppliers and regulatory body representatives to participate in the workshop. A list of substances registered under REACH that could be considered to fulfil the PMT/vPvM criteria will be made available prior to the workshop.

Day one of the workshop will focus on the proposed PMT, vPvM criteria and points of view from industry, scientists and regulators. Day two will focus on the future outlook for the concept specifically advantages related to voluntary action, regulatory and mitigation measures.

The workshop is free of charge and includes coffee, lunch, dinner and a boat trip through Berlin city centre.
